What the patent covers
The patent claims a sequential wastewater treatment method in which:An acid is introduced to lower the pH of the wastewater. A first compound combining diatomaceous earth, bentonite, and chitin or chitosan is then introduced as filtering medium, coagulant, and flocculant, and the mixture is aerated. A second compound tempered charcoal with a pH-raising agent follows, adsorbing contaminants, disinfecting, and restoring pH balance through a second aeration stage. The wastewater is then held for a flocculation period, separating into reusable treated water and a de-waterable sludge byproduct.
Further claims cover the processing of that sludge byproduct into a nitrogen-bearing fertilizer co-product, including dewatering, blending, and pelletizing.
The process uses no membranes, no ion-exchange resins, and no synthetic polymers. Patent protection runs into 2045.
